Cheer Try-outs
Are you committed to continuing the pursuit of excellence in the classroom and in the community? If you are dedicated to leading the Hume-Fogg Blue Knights to victory and are committed to hard work and dedication, sign up today for the 2024-2025 Hume-Fogg Cheer Squad. At Hume-Fogg, we offer two opportunities to cheer: our Varsity/Competition squad, and our Junior Varsity Sideline Squad.
This year, we are conducting pre-season evaluations a little differently.
To try out, you must sign up by Friday, May 12, 2024, at 8 p.m.
Evaluation forms and instructions will be emailed out on Monday, May 13, 2025, by 9 p.m. This year, you will be required to learn a cheer, a sideline chant, a dance, and two jumps, which will be submitted online. These videos are due by Saturday, May 18, 2024, by 5 p.m.
As part of the evaluation process, candidates will be asked to attend an interview session at Hume-Fogg. A signup link will be sent out with evaluation materials. During your interview, we will request to see a running tumbling skill and standing. This can be a cartwheel and roundoff. They are not required, but will enhance the overall evaluation score.
Evaluation results and team selection will be emailed by 9 p.m. on Monday, May 20, 2024. Our first pre-season practice will take place on Thursday, May 30, 2024. This practice is required as we will be sizing for uniforms as well as practice gear.
Dates to keep in mind: in order to cheer on the Varsity squad, you must be able to attend UCA Stunt Camp on June 14, Choreography Skills Clinic on July 13, and UCA Cheer Camp at Western Kentucky University on July 27-30.
